Expanding our forestry and rural operations

This newsletter is the first to focus specifically on a discipline within the firm and we intend to publish occasional newsletters highlighting our services in specific sectors.

Our forestry department is long established and is one of the largest in Scotland, with a woodland management portfolio in excess of 150,000 acres. Clients include rural estates, individuals, commercial companies and the public sector.

The forestry industry has gone through difficult times but we have a long tradition of providing management and consultancy services dating back to the turn of the century and we are absolutely committed to maintaining this area of our business.

It is our considered view that despite recent and current difficulties it is essential that those involved in the forestry sector assess operations on a long-term basis.

To that end, we have recently strengthened our forestry, rural and commercial operations departments. One key appointment is that of John Mackay, who is to join CKD Galbraith from Bowlts, the rural chartered surveyors. John has a wealth of experience in forestry management and has been responsible for some of the largest native woodland planting projects in the country.

John joins Ann Hackett, based in Inverness, Hamish Robertson in Perth and Tom Chetwynd in Glasgow to provide a complete forestry service for the whole of Scotland. Our professional forestry team includes Chartered Foresters, which demonstrates our commitment to the highest possible standards.
