Shalom is a delightful detached cottage with an excellent grazing paddock and about 3.5 acres of Woodland in a semi rural location at the edge of the small village of Colpy. The nearby village of Insch (4 miles) provides a good range of day to day amenities and a range of leisure facilities including, a small selection of general and specialist shops, a Post Office, a Leisure Centre with a variety of activities and an 18 hole golf course. The Bowling Club is attached to the local Library with both a Church of Scotland and Episcopal Church in the village. Insch is served by a railway station and is on the bus route. Services in Insch include a Health Centre, part time Fire Station and a Community Centre. Also within the village is a Nursery and Primary School, with secondary education available at the Gordons School in Huntly or alternatively Inverurie Academy. Both Huntly (10.5 miles) and Inverurie (12.6 miles) boast a wider range of shops.
Aberdeen is 37.5 miles distant, and has a wide range of shopping, entertainment and cultural attractions which one would expect from the oil capital of Europe. Private education is available in the city which also has two universities. Aberdeen International Airport offers regular domestic and European flights, in addition to which there is a railway station with regular services to both north and south, and overnight sleeper service to London.
